Originally from Tennessee, Nijel grew up singing in church, but his love for performing began with his first musical in the third grade. (Fun fact: he auditioned for his first show after his mom slid the audition notice in the newspaper under the bathroom door as he was taking a bath.) In addition to all things art, Nijel also enjoys learning and understanding technology. Around his friends, he is known as “The Tech Guy”, staying up to date on news, updates, and skills. With Apple products as his “specialty”, he previously held a Specialist position for Apple. After graduating with his BFA in Musical Theatre, Nijel has bounced around the region grooving and performing theatre and music. With trombone as his primary, he currently plays 10 instruments, and doesn’t plan on stopping! From then on, he knew he was born to perform. While singing and dancing have been at the forefront for quite some time, he also found a love for acting through an Advanced Scene Study class taken his junior year. After shuffling through a few options, he landed on trombone as his primary, but also plays euphonium and tuba. Rising to First Chair for trombone in the region, then ranking amongst the Top Three in the State of Tennessee, Nijel has continued to allow himself to learn and grow with each musical experience. Having traveled with TCU’s Trombone Choir to Washington DC, as well as continuing to perform in various ensembles and accompanying roles, Nijel has taken his musician skills professionally.
